Troop 1
The experience of Scouting can be one of the most important events in a Scout's life. When he joins a troop, the Scout begins a journey that will lead him to new places and discoveries. He shall learn valuable skills while enjoying all that scouting offers.
Why Troop 1?
Here at Troop 1, we are committed to the ideals and values that Scouting represents. We have a common goal that all new Scouts achieve at least First Class as it will leave them with valuable life lessons as advocated for by Lord Baden Powell, the founder of scouting. Many Troop 1 Scouts shoot higher, oftentimes achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout. Each Scout must decide for himself, but Troop 1 looks to provide the support each individual Scout needs to achieve their personal ambitions.
Troop 1 offers unique opportunities "city kids" to learn about and experience the true outdoors.
Troop 1 information
- Troop 1 was founded in December 2006 with 5 Scouts, and has grown consistently ever since
- Troop 1 is based in Lincoln Park but draws Scouts from multiple zip codes
- Scouts range in age from 5th to 12th grade
- 11 Troop 1 Scouts achieved Eagle Scout in 2017
- Many Troop 1 Scouts attend all of the BSA High Adventure Programs
- Troop 1 is focused on a combination of developing skills and Scout-based values through program activities that are fun!
Behind every Eagle Scout are caring parents/guardians who supported and encouraged their son along the arduous journey.
Scheduling
Troop 1 meets 7–8:30pm every 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month at Menomonee Club, Chicago.

In addition to monthly meetings...
We try to run the program in a flexible way that meets the needs and schedules of the boys. Scouts who are focused on advancement and awards have many opportunities to achieve those goals. Troop members who want to simply join in the activities and outings are also welcome. Most Scouts who are interested in the program, and who regularly attend activities, will find that advancement comes naturally.
Year-round opportunities include:
3 Court of Honor Recognition Ceremonies
Lock-in at Drunker Center in January
Merit Badge University at York High School, Elmhurst
Dave & Busters Holiday Party
